Pop Astrology today… meh.

So I’m scrolling through astrology pictures, posts, and such on all these media sites.

And I have to say, I’m a little disappointed. I’m not sure if anyone else has noticed, but I feel like many astrologers and pop astrologers are turning astrology and the zodiac into a tacky gimmick. The horoscopes are pretty lame, so is their presentation. Pisces Facts, Taurus Facts, Leo Facts… come on now. It’s not so simple.

Not only that, but all the art and associated media. Astrology has so many ancient and elegant roots and art forms. I don’t really like the fact that so much of it is being turned into a cheesy medium. Goofy unattractive pictures of astrology, nonsensical daily horoscope posts… There’s so much ancient processes and artworks surrounding astrology that could be put up there but all I see is a sort of nonsense. 

Sorry, I just really am one for originality. I just think that Astrology today has so much opportunity to be refined into something tasteful, for everyone, and refined. Not a cheesy parlor trick on websites in hopes to gain a few readers. The way websites and artists portray astrology is kind of selling it out, cheapening it. 

I wish I had the artistic talent to do some astrology art myself, but I hope that we find it’s much more elegant and classy than these pointless “Daily Facts” or “Sun Sign Facts” or “Tarot Card for the Day” kind of things that flood the #astrology tag on tumblr.

I’m going to try and change all that.
